Metal Wire Mesh Structured Packing is a type of structured packing made from finely woven stainless steel wire mesh. It is one of the most widely used packings in industrial production today. The commonly used stainless steel wire mesh for this packing is of 60 mesh density. Wire diameters are typically 0.15 mm and 0.12 mm, with a standard roll size of 1 meter wide, 30 meters long, and weighing 18.5 kg (0.15 mm mesh with 60 mesh in the warp and 50 mesh in the weft). The common materials used are 304, 304L, 316, and 316L stainless steel, although some manufacturers may use the less expensive 202 and 201 grades. While these lower-cost materials are cheaper, they are prone to rusting.
