How to see the quality of structured packing

To judge the quality of structured packing, the following key indicators and testing standards need to be integrated:

金属规整填料 metal Wire mesh packing

Performance parameter

Pressure difference: the pressure loss when the gas passes through the packing should be controlled within 200Pa, and the pressure difference is too large, which will increase the energy consumption.

Droplet content and diameter: The average droplet content through the packing should be less than 75mg/Nm³, and no droplet diameter should be greater than 15μm (standard dry flue gas) 15.

Blade spacing: The spacing is usually 30-50nm, which reduces the de-fogging effect and causes the smoke to carry water 15.

Geometric characteristic parameter

Specific surface area: The larger the surface area per unit volume of the packing, the higher the mass transfer efficiency.24

Voidage: The higher the voidage, the stronger the gas passing capacity and the lower the pressure 24.

Packing factor (f number) : The smaller the f number, the smaller the flow resistance, the better the fluid mechanical properties 24.

Material and physical properties

Material requirements: Use native polypropylene (PP) and other corrosion-resistant materials, avoid the use of recycled materials, and ensure anti-aging and corrosion resistance (such as temperature resistance below 95℃) 3.

Compressive strength: metal packings should be ≥78.5MPa, plastic packings should be ≥ specified value to ensure structural stability.

Thermal deformation temperature: plastic packing should be ≥120℃, suitable for high temperature conditions 3.

Testing standards and processes

Pressure drop: The pressure drop of plastic structured packing should be less than 100Pa/m3.

Installation specifications: The corrugated sheet should be installed in the same direction as the gas and liquid flow direction, and the fixed tie rod should be no less than 3 to ensure that the packing does not spread out.

Chemical stability: It is necessary to pass the pH tolerance range test (such as wide pH adaptability) and heavy metal content detection to ensure environmental safety.

Other key indicators

Porosity: ≥97% (perforation type), opening rate 10% (aperture 5-6mm) 3.

Tensile and bending strength: Metal packings should meet GB/T1040-92, GB/T9341-2000 and other standards 3.

In summary, the quality of structured packing needs to be comprehensively evaluated from the performance parameters, geometric structure, material characteristics and testing standards, which can refer to industry standards such as GB/T1634-793 and manufacturer's technical specification 135.
