How to install structured packing

The installation of structured packing shall follow the following steps and precautions:

1. Preparation before installation

Tower body cleaning: thoroughly remove oil, welding slag, rust and other impurities in the tower to ensure internal cleanliness, and use blind plates to block the import and export to prevent media from entering 1.

Safety measures: personnel entering the tower need to carry gas alarm, ventilation equipment is set in the tower to ensure air circulation 1.

Inspection and treatment: check the protruding height of the tower weld (should be less than 3mm) and the damage of the wall, and polish or repair if necessary; Remove residual components that affect installation 1.

2. Tools and tests

Prepare loading tools, hanging baskets, tape measures and other tools, and check whether the elevation of the packing and internal parts shown in the diagram is consistent with the actual height in the tower 1.

After the packing is unpacked, it is assembled into a disk according to the block diagram, and it is strictly prohibited to deform or mix with debris 1.

Three, installation steps

Block/whole disk installation:

Full plate installation (tower diameter < 800mm) : directly through the flange hole, the wall flow ring and the packing should be integrated or separate installation 23.

Block installation (tower diameter > 800mm) : the packing blocks (each height 100-300mm) are sent into the tower through the manhole, and the adjacent two disks of corrugated sheets are staggered at 90°, and each four disks are adjusted in the direction of one period12.

Wall flow ring treatment: Install the wall flow ring according to the design requirements to avoid completely sealing the gap, in order to balance the wall flow and mass transfer efficiency 2.

Support and leveling: the surface roughness of the packing support after installation should be less than D/500 (D is the tower diameter, ≤4mm when ≥2m), and mark the height every 1 meter to control the height tolerance 1.

4. Precautions

Packing lifting requires special equipment, it is strictly prohibited to directly bundle, handling gently during loading and unloading 1.

During installation, the tower wall is filled to the center to avoid the phenomenon of "pot bottom". Each layer of packing should be squeezed tightly and the upper and lower plates should be closely contacted 1.

In hot operation, asbestos cloth should be laid to isolate welding slag, and equipped with fire protection facilities 12.

After installation, it is subject to acceptance by technicians. If necessary, water test is carried out to check the performance of the liquid distributor.
