Under what conditions should structured packing be replaced

The replacement conditions of structured packing mainly include the following aspects:

Use cycle: The life of different materials of the packing is very different, such as the combined packing needs 3-5 years to replace, the elastic packing can reach 8 years, and the spherical fixed packing is about 5 years.

Physical damage: If the packing causes fiber bonding, aging and falling off or crushing due to dehydration and drying, it needs to be replaced immediately.

Structural problems: Before installation, check whether the tower body is seriously corroded, or whether pipe fittings and accessories are damaged, and replace them simultaneously if necessary.

Performance decline: When the heat transfer efficiency of the packing is reduced due to aging or accumulation (such as the crushing of the packing in the cooling tower affects the condenser copper tube), it is necessary to replace it structuredly to maintain the operating efficiency of the equipment.

In addition, when replacing metal structured packing (such as stainless steel corrugated packing), pay attention to the installation specifications to ensure that the packing is smooth and uniform, and the spacing is reasonable to avoid the bias flow on the tower wall.
